Terms and conditions
Sent with every written quote. On a long move the clauses about the receiving address are the ones that matter.
1. Quotes
A quote is based on the information you give us and on what we established at both addresses. If the job is materially different on the day we will tell you what the difference costs before we continue rather than afterwards.
A written quote remains valid for thirty days from the date it is issued unless it says otherwise on its face.
2. The receiving address
You are responsible for telling us accurately about the receiving address, including where a vehicle can stand, the floor, whether there is a working lift, any parking restriction, and the nature of the final approach.
Where a vehicle cannot reach the property, or must stand significantly further away than described, and that only becomes apparent on arrival, the additional carrying or any shuttle required is chargeable.
3. Parking suspensions and permissions
Unless we have expressly agreed in writing to arrange it, obtaining a parking bay suspension at either address is your responsibility. Where we have agreed to apply on your behalf we will do so promptly on instruction, but we cannot guarantee that the authority will grant it.
Where a managing agent, freeholder or building requires insurance documentation, a booked lift or an agreed route, you must tell us before the booking so that it can be arranged.
4. Part-loads and shared vehicles
Where a quote is for a shared or part load, collection and delivery are scheduled within a window rather than on a fixed date, and the window is set out in the quote. Part-load quotes are not suitable where your dates are fixed by a completion, and we will advise you where we think a dedicated vehicle is the better answer.
5. Partner crews
On some long routes a partner crew assists with loading or delivery. Where that applies we will tell you in advance. We remain responsible to you for the work under these terms.
6. Timing
Arrival and delivery times on long routes are indicative and depend on traffic, road conditions and seasonal factors outside our control. We will agree a departure with you rather than announcing one, and we will not give you a firmer window than we believe to be real.
7. What you are responsible for
Making sure the property is ready when we arrive. Being present at both ends, or nominating somebody in writing beforehand with a number at which they can be reached. Removing your own fixings. Dealing with anything we are not permitted to carry.
8. Items that will not fit
Where we advise that an item will not pass a staircase, turn, doorway or lift at the receiving address, and you ask us to attempt it anyway, we will do so only by agreement and cannot accept liability for damage arising from the attempt.
9. Items we will not carry
Cash, jewellery, deeds, passports and similar valuables; controlled drugs; firearms and ammunition; fuels, gas bottles, fireworks and other hazardous goods; perishable food; plants that may harbour pests; and living animals. Please carry these yourself.
10. Liability
We carry goods-in-transit and public liability insurance. Details, sums insured and exclusions are provided with your quote. We are not liable for damage to goods you packed yourself where the damage is attributable to that packing, for electrical or mechanical faults appearing after a move without external damage, or for loss caused by anything outside our reasonable control including road closures and traffic conditions.
11. Claims
Damage must be reported to us in writing within seven days of delivery, with photographs, so that we have a genuine opportunity to inspect. Where goods have been in store, that period runs from delivery out of store.
12. Storage
Storage charges run from the date goods enter store and are billed in advance for each period. Goods are released against a cleared account.
13. Booking and cancellation
A provisional date costs nothing and commits neither of us. Where a booking deposit has been paid and you cancel more than fourteen days before the agreed date, it is refunded in full; inside fourteen days it is retained against the slot held for you.
14. Payment
The balance is payable on completion unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Invoiced accounts are payable within fourteen days of the invoice date.
15. Complaints
Email hello@nottinghamshireremovals.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint and give you a named person dealing with it.
16. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
