The busiest direction out of the county by a distance, and the one where the move itself is the easy part. Loading in Nottinghamshire is straightforward; arriving in London rarely is.

What this direction is like
The run is simple and the arrival is not. A house in West Bridgford with a driveway and a house in a London borough with a controlled parking zone are not comparable propositions, and almost all the difficulty on this direction sits at the far end.
You will very likely need a parking bay suspension, and it has to be applied for in advance with the relevant London borough. It is the single most common reason a southbound move starts badly, and it cannot be sorted out on the morning.
The property is usually smaller. A great deal of what fits comfortably in a Nottinghamshire house does not fit in what the same money buys in the South East, and that is much better established before the van is loaded than after it is unloaded.
Flats, blocks and managing agents enter the picture. Lift bookings, insurance certificates and permitted routes through communal areas are all normal at the London end and all need arranging.
The road itself is the most predictable part. The M1 is the M1, and the variable is what time of day it is being driven rather than what the route is.

Establish the parking situation at the London end at the survey, and tell you what a suspension involves in time to get one
Deal with the managing agent directly on lift bookings, insurance and access
Measure the receiving property properly and tell you honestly what will not fit
Plan the day around the arrival rather than around the departure, because that is where it goes wrong
Watch for
Assuming the far end works like this one. It does not, and almost every difficult southbound move is a move where somebody assumed it would.
